eFax Service Localized in Italian, Portuguese and Polish

Ciao, Bonjour, Olá can all now be faxed via eFax – J2 Global’s (NASDAQ:JCOM) Internet fax service.  Their press release claims that their localization efforts have resulted in international being 11% of their total business. I would think the translations helped, but not that they were the sole reason for that percentage of their market.  Someone needs to work on their PR claims and study them more closely before they hit the street.  They have no way to equate localization directly to the number of international customers. It is a silly claim.

To the meat of the effort though, it is a good thing for them to localize all the languages they can to expand the availability of their services to those that may not yet speak English or may be more comfortable sending a fax in their native tongue and using and interface that offers their language to send the fax.

<snip>announced the availability of its eFax service in Italian, Portuguese and Polish. This is in addition to American English, British English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch and Cantonese, which are already supported.

This continues j2’s strategy of expanding product support to key markets worldwide. The company currently offers eFax numbers in more than 2,800 cities in 40 countries. The introduction of the service in Italian, Portuguese and Polish will allow eFax to reach additional customer segments.

The Company is replicating its rollout of eFax in French, German, Spanish and Dutch, which includes telephone and email sales and customer assistance. Localization efforts have resulted in international revenues growing to more than 11% of j2’s total revenues. The Company anticipates localization in additional languages later this year.

“We are very pleased to offer eFax in Italian, Portuguese and Polish,” said Hemi Zucker, j2 Global President and Chief Operating Officer. “The addition of these languages will allow us to reach new groups of customers and continue our penetration in key markets.”
