One of the largest fax board makers lays off workers.
The Cape Cod staff of Cantata Technology is a little smaller this week, following a round of layoffs that included cuts at the company’s Hyannis location.
Peter Vescuso, Cantata’s vice president of marketing, acknowledged yesterday that the Needham-based company eliminated positions last week, but would not disclose how many workers were laid off or how many are still globally employed.
“We made reductions in pretty much all locations, all functions,” he said.
Cantata, which produces technologically advanced telecommunications equipment, was formed when Hyannis-based Excel Switching Corp. acquired Brooktrout Technology of Needham in 2005.
As of June 2006, the company was reported to employ approximately 360 workers, with about 150 of these located in Hyannis.
